If you are running windows 7, this device won't work. There are no drivers available.
Rebooting computer took care of problem. - No indication when power supply is overloaded - I don't like lots of blinking lights unless it's on fire or about ready to blow up. Pro's: - Great price - Both units work (1-Home, 1-Office) - The only unit I've found in this price range that works reliably - Charges/Runs (at same time) my; * Motorola Razor cell phone (with required PC software to charge) * Motorola bluetooth headset * Eneloop AA/AAA USB battery charger * Flash drive 1 * Flash drive 2 * USB Mouse * USB KeyboardCon's: - Power supply is too small to "power" all 7 ports at full power at once, my setup is probably near the limit of what it can do. It was probably a "low power" (overloaded) condition that caused the problem. This thing looks like a twinkling UFO on my desktop. - It did stop working once in 1 year. - Product does require delicate handling as mechanical quality does reflect the low product price. - At this price I don't expect support and consider the device "disposable" if it ever stops working for me.I like it, recommend it, and would buy another for a fixed/protected office/home installation (as opposed to bouncing around with other equipment in my briefcase while traveling).
I'm going to have to buy another multi port USB hub, but it won't be this one again. Worked great at first, but after a few months, the ports started dying. Now, only the LED lights work. Also, I really don't like all the LED lights. It's much more annoying than the picture can show.
The only problem I've had with this device is that on rare occasion, items plugged into it (mostly 8GB glash drives) don't get mounted on the computer. The device then worked well. At first I tried unplugging the device's usb cord from my computer and replugging it in, but that didn't work. What worked is unplugging it from the computer and unplugging the power supply and waiting a minute before plugging it back in. The reviews reporting that the device fried computers is frightening. Perhaps it is that I'm using a Mac that has made my experience different than most other reports.
If you're not into having your desk glow with 7 different lights, this might not be the hub for you.On the plus side, it works. the power cable is very short. For the price, this is a fantastic little USB hub.A few things to be aware of. That's more than I can say about the POS it is replacing. It was not long enough to go from my surge strip on the floor to my desktop. A quick extension cord (or moving the surge strip) fixed this without any major hangups. Also, the lights are kinda cheesy for the Hub. It also runs at a low temperature -- it is barely above room temp right now and it's been running for about a day.Having 7 extra USB ports on my desk, and only one cable to connect when I set down my laptop is great. At the price point, I'm willing to put up with the glowing lights and shorter power cable.
